KEGGFARMS Pvt. Ltd. is the oldest Private sector Poultry Breeding organization of India established in 1967. It is best known for pioneering genetic breeding of poultry stocks since 1972. KEGGFARMS is also recognized by the Department of Science and Technology as a Research and Development center for Poultry Breeding since the mid-70s.
However, since 1990 the Company is dedicated to the development of rural specific poultry stocks branded ‘KUROILER®’ and is the first commercial entity in India to focus exclusively on development, production and supply of scientifically developed poultry stocks for production in village households. KEGGFARMS, through a unique and innovative supply chain, reaches out to over one million disadvantaged rural households, across 29 states generating over INR5000 mn as additional livelihood especially for women. Apart from the award winning dual purpose bird KUROILER®, Keystone Golden Layers are supplied to a niche segment of farmers who are looking for premium quality tan egg layers.
KEGGFARMS maintains germplasm of heritage poultry stocks like Kadaknath, Aseel and its variants.
Other than the rural poultry program, high quality, Cage free eggs for discerning consumers are sold in all major cities of India through premium general and modern trade outlets.
Research & Development
KEGGFARMS is recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, as an in-house R&D unit since 1970’s.
In 1972, KEGGFARMS pioneered genetic breeding of Poultry Stocks to develop environmentally adapted Poultry Stocks for Indian environment. This commenced with import of high quality germplasm from Parks Poultry Farm, USA.
Despite widespread skepticism, KEGGFARMS was, within a short period, able to develop and deliver Keystone Egg Layers and Keggbro Broilers, whose performance was comparable to that of the best of imported stocks. This achievement gained KEGGFARMS its unique place in the history of Poultry Breeding in India. In fact, the strength of some leading hatcheries in India through the years flows from their emulating the Pureline breeding concept proved by KEGGFARMS. Development of KUROILER® is a consequence of the vast experience and pragmatic understanding of Poultry Breeding that KEGGFARMS has gained through decades.
Apart from mainline KUROILER® birds, the R&D center strives to develop and improve stocks for commercial rearing by farmers and households and preserve indigenous and heritage germplasm.
